Someone bought 450,000 shares at the opening bell on Thursday so something was "in the wind" back last week. All these gyrations and taking out of stops creates is the ability for the market maker to gather shares to sell to future buyers.

When the announcement of a NOK PlA is official there is not enough float to allow all of those shares which are short to cover. The market maker needs all the shares he can get to create an efficient order flow when the volume explodes after the announcement is made. As TC has stated starting last week expect short term volatility because up and down $2 gyrations assists the market maker to gather shares for when the ultimate runup occurs.

P.S. Today's market volatility allowed me to buy some cheap options at about 40% less premium than yesterday but each investor must decide whether the day-to-day stock price movements provides an opportunity or a curse.
