Retail Sales Post Worse-Than-Expected Showing in February Raising More Recession Worries
WASHINGTON (AP) -- In another worrisome sign that the country could be falling into a recession, retail sales fell by a much worse-than-expected amount in February. The Commerce Department reported Thursday that retail sales plunged by six-tenths of a percentage point last month, far worse than the small two-tenths of a percentage point increase that analysts had been expecting.
