Waterwisp.

Why did I know that was going to be your next question? (g)

You need to collect the following tools.

1) Phillips screwdriver

2) Flashlight

3) Small brush like the kind for cleaning an electric shaver.

4) Really bad vacum cleaner that doesn't suck much.

5) Footstool

We're going in Scotty! I need all the warp power you can give me!

First unplug the computer from the wall socket. Place the now powerless computer on the footstool in front of you. take the cover off. Use the vacum cleaner to cleanout all of the dust bunnies and grime collected over the years. Find and pay special attention to the CPU heat sink. Use the brush where needed. Get into all the fins, cracks, and crevices and around all the fans and air intakes.

Then lay the now cleaned machine on it's side so you are looking down on the motherboard. (That's that 1 foot by 1 foot thingy inside with all the pretty electrical stuff on it)

What you are looking for is a silver battery that looks like a watch battery about the size of a quarter. When you find it, shine the flashlight on it and look very close to see which side is up. Positive or negative? There should be some sort of spring clip holding it in. Press the clip with the screwdriver and the battery should pop out. Be careful with the screwdriver as it will do an excellent job of slipping and scratching across the printed circuits. If that happens, see the IBox for the Terminator shopping list.

Take the old battery to Wally World or a computer shop and buy another one just like it. They cost about a dollar I think. I wouldn't know since I have never kept a computer that long.

Installation is the reverse of the removal. You can pass on the vacum and brushing routine during the installation. Close up the case and find the case screws you dropped in the floor.

Add power and set the date and the clock.

You're done.
