data, thanks for your thoughts. i saw the hsdpa news on t3g's site, but it was very old, and low performance. with the timing on their roadmap, i thought they might be having problems and saw idcc as a better solution. still seems plausible.

mediatek would be a better business opportunity, though.

i'm thinking the entire 3g modem, as IP, could command $7.50. sound plausible?

as for the future, the UMA forum, SK, etc... lead me to believe that idcc may have a good 802.21/MIH stack early, and may leverage a chip opportunity. could need LTE by then.
