Interesting, thanks. Both IB and Scottrade have told me that they sell shares in my account via FIFO. Are you saying that what they really mean is that they register sales in their internal books as FIFO, but that the shares in my account purchased at different times are really all mixed together? Btw, that's the way IB shows it to me in my portfolio and Scottrade displays it in Gainskeeper - all mixed together, but then they tell me that they sell via FIFO.
