History
Originally, back in 2002, the company then named ECN started its operations in the field of informatics. ECN was founded by Raphaël Huppé, seconded by Manon Chiasson who has a successful administrative background as well as a solid formation in IT. Mr. Huppé with a solid background in the field of information technology backed with years of experience, achieved with ECN notable recognition in the IT field in relatively short order.
The company grew quickly from a hand full of customers to a widely known enterprise with many customers joining the list of satisfied customers, such as governmental associations, religious community, and the list is long. The company served its customers with IT infrastructure and network maintenance, but also developed numerous customized applications and data base adaptation for them. Our entering the field of the transport industry started when we signed the company Brasseur Transport as an IT customer. In the course of adapting and customizing our various IT services for this client, we were able to see what actual problems this industry was encountering. We knew that something could be done to help this industry and we decided to enter the transport industry and develop solutions geared towards the increase of efficiency and productivity. While working with them at locating solutions to situations discovered, we were then able to pin point the areas that needed the most attention.
We then started reviewing all the current solutions to these problems that are offered on the market, and came to the conclusion that many of them lacked the flexibility needed by that industry; in fact, none of them actually offered to give the data in real time, no matter the software or system used. Our IT expertise happened to be very useful when we begun to put together the FOLO suite of products, because, not only could we bring the clients the data when they wanted it - in real time - but right in their own software. This was a major breakthrough. Moreover; giving the client the possibility to interact with the unit, as if the unit was right there in the garage of the client, was actually something the industry needed for a long time.
That opened the door to the creation of the perfect suite of tools thus completing the FOLO suite. The joining of these technologies became a great opportunity to bring the usability and flexibility of their discoveries to a new level of application, such as the ability to transmit the data while interacting with the driver and the unit remotely.
While looking and evaluating different hardware solutions for data transmission and GPS technologies, we tested a few avenues. In conclusion, and by far, our best choice was the company Argo Navigation, not only we found in them an extremely good product, but as a bonus, that team was amazing and immediately blended well with our existing ECN Holding team; they understood our vision, and they were ready to work with us and add our technology to the unit they already had. The CEO of Argo has an impressive background in GPS navigation solutions and is active in this field for more then a decade. With all of these positive elements: the quality of their products and the quality of that team and how good our respective people blended together, we decided to go on with the acquisition of Argo.
The FOLO suite as we know it now was born. We brought the company public in order to accelerate the process of putting this extremely valuable product on the market as widely as possible and as fast as feasible. Considering what gains are achieved by companies using this full suite of products, we came to realize that for every month that goes by without the FOLO being installed in every truck, the statistics of thousands of people worldwide dying on the roads is left unchanged, and the impact of those death is not only emotionally costly for the families, friends and relatives, it is costly for the transport companies themselves and the companies that insures them.
Therefore, our goal is to have this system installed in every truck, taxi, airplane, bus etc. and our current strategy, through the hard work of several people actively participating in this project is aimed at making this a reality
