The HSDPA extension of 3GSM WCDMA UMTS

Carriers don't pay royalties to Qualcomm, their OEM vendors do, but HSDPA is a Release 5 (and Release 6) extension of 3GSM WCDMA UMTS, and vendors will pay their negotiated WCDMA royalty to Qualcomm.
