The product being full of bugs means that they don't care enough to test it beforehand. Also, catering to the retail market in the first place means that they have to deal with many more possible configurations, and the bugs that may arise out of these additional variations.

A working product would be a good start, but hey, the world is cruel, and a product that is barely working will not do much to bring in revenues, and hence will not move the stock price. And of course there's the bagholders who will try to dump as soon as this goes over 0.0001, making sure that it will stay there for a long time!
