The gift of tongues,

is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ (a) to speak to God in a language they have never learned and/or (b) to receive and communicate an immediate message of God to his people through a divinely anointed utterance in a language they never learned.

All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.

"just as he determines" and "just as he wanted them to be."

I heard a sermon once. The preacher said that God doesn't give any one person all of the gifts. If He did we would have no need of each other.

I also heard this one preacher once say that he prayed and prayed for the gift of tongues. God did not give it to him. He thinks it might be because God knows him better than he knows himself and this gift might puff him up... or something like that.

God gives this gift "just as he determines" so if you do not have this gift don't feel bad. IMHO Thoughts?
