KTM info.........................

Along with the advanced security hardware and applications following the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) standard, comes an issue for individuals and businesses to provide backup and transition of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) keys.

Key Transfer Manager is a key archive system for end-users and enterprises that need a simple, yet fully featured method to securely archive, restore and transfer keys having migratable properties that are secured by the TPM.

The Problem

With the TCG standard, user data is protected by keys stored within the TPM hardware. These keys are very secure; however, they must be recoverable if the hardware fails or when there is a need to replicate a user's configuration on a new machine. Traditional backup mechanisms for the hard drive are not able to recover the keys or data encrypted by them. First generation TPM backup mechanisms provided by the computer manufacturer have drawbacks in terms of usability, security and enterprise management. These limitations increase the risk of losing critical data and valuable time.

Product Spotlight

Wave's Key Transfer Manager (KTM) provides a reliable and convenient key archive system for trusted platforms.

Platform Restore & Transfer -- Whether a single key is restored to the original PC, or all migratable keys are transferred to a new PC, Key Transfer Manager's one-click restore procedure is effortless. For a transfer, the user points to the archive files for the original PC and one click completes the key migration to the new PC.

Advanced Functions -- Beyond the primary functions, Key Transfer Manager's advanced operations include viewing, archiving and migrating individual key data. Advanced users and administrators gain information on TPM keys and may perform single key operations to support progressive application features.

Easy to Implement and Use -- After a one-time setup to choose an archive location, one mouse click archives all supported keys. Keys are archived in any location such as a flash drive, network, floppy, etc. An automatic detection and archive feature keeps user involvement to a minimum as keys are automatically archived immediately after they are created. Additionally, when a restore or archive is initiated, KTM automatically detects the keys needing to be restored or archived and only acts upon the missing keys.
Users may optionally ensure that keys are archived through establishing a predetermined schedule for archiving. This is especially useful for users whose standard archive location is frequently unavailable during automated archives.

Protection of Secured Data -- KTM offers advantages beyond currently available solutions by giving the user a straightforward method to ensure protection against loss of secured data. The business user is satisfied that TPM-secured intellectual property assets are secure and recoverable.

Enterprise Management -- For businesses, Key Transfer Manager Business Edition can be configured to access a Key Transfer Manager Enterprise Server. This feature offers enterprises a seamless migration path to full management, control and security of key archive policies and data. Microsoft Active Directory integration ensures consistent system management and policies.

Clear Messaging -- Key Transfer Manager provides messages to the end-user about the status of the archive or restoration process. The easy-to-understand messaging gives the user continued confidence in their system's archive status.

Options Menu -- The options menu accessible from the Windows taskbar allows easy and convenient access to common key archive and restore operations.
