Hi LostCowBoy, My system is still down and I can only boot to safe mode. I was on the phone with Dell for 16 hours over a two day span and they don't know what's wrong. I cannot get to the internet or any peripherals in safe mode on my laptop - but this week I am going to load a second windows (Windows Professional) and try to boot up. Hopefully that will do it. At this point I have loaded a dirty copy of windows 98 - changed the registry and reloaded windows 98. For the past two days I have been trying to back up some critical files via winzip using 5 1/4 disketts. That's a lot of fun - NOT. Windows 98 will boot but only get the start button (not even a clock). The program button is non-operatable - there is a mouse but system is totally locked and just have to turn off computer.
