Part of it, imo, is Intel has done a real poor job lately conveying to the investment community its business model and what metrics it thinks is important. Listening to the call last night, it was almost like analysts and Intel were speaking different languages. Analysts were asking questions, Intel was responding, but many analysts were either not understanding or misinterpreting what was said. Did the forecast include divestiture impacts, why arent forecasted margins at 60%, and on and on. One can argue that analysts are the clueless ones, but it doesnt matter as its these same analysts that are influencing the stock price, so Intel management better start caring. Intel has been a great company, but a lousy investment for many years now, and partly because of this reason....
