Aren't you ignoring the macroeconomic conditions that have helped precipitate this drop?

Even if AMD went out of business tomorrow, Intel would not be immune to the general pessimism that is dominating the markets right now. In fact, Intel as a blue-chip would be right in the path of the oncoming truck.

It might be prudent to step aside and see how the overall market shapes up. Remember that this is an election year, so the incumbents will do whatever it takes to prop up the economy.
