It does seem a little shortsighted to get into those high speed chases for traffic violations when with a little common sense and some technology it can be avoided.

I saw one where the fools running away ran a light and got T-boned by an eighteen wheeler that was traveling at 45 miles an hour. Their light truck disintegrated, they were dead on impact. What you don't ever hear about is the psychological damage suffered by the truck driver. Even though he knows he did nothing wrong he still knows what happened to the people in the car.
The High speed chase is dangerous for everyone, we have had three die in such chases recently here in FL. One of them was a pursuing officer.
