BOM Code jokes? Really? And I'm the one who gets slammed for going off topic. Fdisk, F5, bios settings, geeks and nerds r us. Before the PC users have to do a clean install, this TOU detour does get to the heart of the matter, money.

December 12, 1980 Apple sells 4.6 million shares at $22 a share. The largest IPO since Ford in 1956. January 7, 1984 Commodore, not Apple, not IBM, is the first computer maker to sell 1 billion worth of personal computers. I mention this because the nerd spat reminded me of Amiga and AREXX. What a machine and what a scripting language. We should all be using some kind of next generation Amiga right now. By far the first truly multitasking machine, simple command line code, super efficient OS and the machine that introduced the CD to computers. What happened? Money.

Unlike the tiny memory system Bill Gates promoted, Commodore didn't have the killer office application. Unlike Apple, who almost self destructed with the LISA, they didn't have the killer desktop publishing application. All they had was multimedia. They couldn't wait for the BeOS to catch up, they couldn't wait for NEXT to appear, Irving Gould and Jack Tramiel didn't have the financial structure to enable the custom chip set of the Amiga to hold on and prevail. Get technology, but they were no Torvec.

I can almost hear them from here, cheerleader, idiot, Jim Gleasman stooge. That's the counter argument to Torvec. Artguy's an idiot and where's my money. Very nuanced. I may be deluded, but no matter how far off course I might be, Torvec has some interesting projects started and at least a couple in discussion or started. That is a fact. Some are upset that all relationships aren't fully detailed for everyone to see. That would be nice, but what company works like that? Apple just prevailed to get a website shut down and all they did was GUESS at what Apple was going to do next. Does anyone think Bill Gates and crew would openly discuss what is going on with ANY of their deals?

CXO didn't make the NASA connection, the guy before them didn't talk to Lockheed and no shrill critic would have been able to herd Torvec to Mt. Read without selling the company to venture capitalists or a bank by now. Not enough for some. Should have done more in 10 years.

Personally I like where Torvec is positioned right now. A real headquarters, real devices being put into vehicles outside Rochester that Torvec didn't have to buy, and a financial structure to take them to the next opportunity.

Flame on lurkers. Go nuts. In hindsight I was stupid not to buy 100 shares of that Apple IPO. Same with Microsoft. At the time personal computers were not even good typewriters. It took 9 more years before I could use one to make art and that was an AVA III that cost $125,000. PCI and 2 other production houses in the area were the only places that could afford that level of computing power. What a difference 10 years make.

As I reread this I'm tempted to just delete and lurk. What's the point? People who are super critical of Torvec don't care what the 'spin' is or how logical the argument is. They want what they want. I guess we will see if they have a point. It is funny to me how a special few pour over every word and jump on the tiniest thing so they can unload. LOL, THIS post should entertain them for a while. Sorry, but it took me back and as the boy in the horse stall said, 'with all this stuff, there's got to be a pony in here somewhere.' Just my opinion. See you at the meeting. Oops, almost forgot. EOM
