Yep. Paper is surprisingly hard to get rid of.

Some years ago a guy whose mother had been Undersecretary of the Navy during WWII sent a letter to Newsweek in reaction to a story they'd run. When his mother was appointed, she quickly realized that they were archiving stuff they didn't really need to keep: things like uniform and equipment orders from WWI, and the like.

So she ordered them destroyed. A month later, the guy she'd entrusted with this job came to her and said: "I've got rid of all those old documents. But don't worry: I made a copy of every one".

Actually, I'm opposed to destroying ANY kind of documents. Hundreds of years later they may be of great interest to historians.
