Retrospect...One last time...

I am saddened by the loss of so many of IDCC's shareholder base...whether they have been forced out of ownership due to margin, frustration, or whatever...In an early-August email to IDCC, I was adamant about the need for action...

Hi Ms. Point...

I haven't spoke with you for quite a while, but now i
feel it is of utmost importance to express my view
regarding Interdigital...
I am one of a number of "mid-termer"
shareholders...over 5 years...and I know there are
many "long termers", many who are much larger
shareholders than myself...

I have to believe that those at IDCC are very aware
that the stock has been under "attack" by
professionals using "bear raid" tactics for over 3
weeks straight...July saw the deletion of the
long-standing "uptick rule" for shorting an
equity...Now shorts can force a shareprice down with
impunity, wiping out any bid at any price if they
chose to...
And they have..dropping the shareprice about $11 in 20
trading sessions...
Their timing is not totally unexpected...We had a
confusing symbol change to IDCCD for 20 days, a spooky
market overall, and the expectation of a minus-number
for earnings this quarter, along with the change to
the uptick rule...Prior to the recent downdraft, IDCC
has already expericed an increase of short interest to
record levels...near 7,000,000 shares
worth...(2,000,000 increase alone in the last 4
months)...

Is it because IDCC suddenly became a Company of less
value or its future less favorable...???..Of course
not...Todays revenues and earnings actually were a
penny or two better than most "expected"...And there
was nothing in the Conference Call that lead me to
believe that IDCC will not consumate new deals and get
paid by those who are stalling...

The bear raid continued, and that is Very Important
for IDCC to address, imo...Because it has been going
on for such a long period of time, it is like a
"squeeze" on Long shareholders, forcing out a number
of the faithful, whether they be short, mid, or long
termers...and it has demoralized many...
Left alone to continue with such a bear raid actually
threatens the very base of support by individual and
instituional investors, imho...
I doubt the shorters (who I believe to be savvy
professionals, btw) could accomplish what they have
were it not for the uptick rule change last month...

IDCC has a brand new CFO...I hope he is market-aware,
at least as much as I am...IDCC announced in the past
that a "buyback" was in order when the shareprice was
well over $30...I have to believe that current
conditions call for some action...I realize that
"announced" buybacks are merely contingencies...But
the support of such an announcement would make a
significant difference to the market perception...

Shorts know they are dealing with a finite "window of
shorting opportunity"...They get crushed upon the PR
that names a Tier 1 licensee, or capitulation by
Samsung or Nokia...That is not expected in their
current window of trading...and they are free to raid
with impunity until such time...unless

One of my goals is to be a part of that loyal,
long-suffering shareholder group that still holds
shares when the "ship does finally come to port"...I
don't want to lose my comrades, or that ship...
Both are currently in peril...

This is just one man's opinion, but I watch the
trading of this particular stock like a hawk...and I
see what is going on...I hope Management at IDCC are
aware as well...

Best of fortune to us...
