I always enjoy your perspective concerning politics and even though we agree on most issues I do not have the love affair with the Democratic party as you do and here are my reasons....

I never consider it wasting time on issues that have profound impact on the lives of people and as a Gay man I remember all too well how Democrats and Clinton walked away from gays when it became too hot of a political issue. The same gay people who overwhelmingly supported him and the democratic party were expendable.
Do you remember the 1996 federal Defense of Marriage Act that was signed into law on Sept. 21, 1996, by Bill Clinton?
Clinton backed the Defense of Marriage Act

17 Republicans Vote NO and 27 Democrats Vote YES on the "Marriage Protection Act" passed by a large majority in U.S. House of Representatives.

Democrats voting YES:
AL-Cramer; AR-Berry, Ross; FL-Boyd; GA-Marshall; IL-Costello; KY-Chandler, Lucas; LA-Alexander, John; MN-Peterson; MS-Taylor; MO-Skelton; NC-McIntyre; OK-Carson; PA-Holden; SD-Herseth; TN-Davis, Gordon, Tanner; TX-Edwards, Sandlin, Stenholm, Turner; UT-Matheson; VA-Boucher; WV-Rahall
Members NOT voting:
Carson (IN), Collins (GA), Greenwood (PA), Kirk (IL), Kucinich (OH), Lowey (NY), Paul (TX), Quinn (NY)

If that wasn't bad enough we have the " Don't ask, Don't tell". So even though I'm a liberal with a big L and a registered democrat and will vote for the democratic nominee in this election, I will continue to be critical of my party because of the reasons I have stated and yes I think THEY wimped out on that issue and others.

you wrote
As far as blame the Dem's for the total mess we are in .. I totally disagree

I don't recall blaming the Dem's for the mess we are in.
Clearly The Blame falls on the Republicans and this President.

But I will blame the Dem's for not drawing a line in the sand and standing up for basic human rights issues ( like WATERBOARDING) and equal rights for all americans which include gay people.
Yes, I do hold the democrats to a higher standard because WE ARE DEMOCRATS and we embrace diversity and believe Government does have a role in helping the most vulnerable among us and when my party leaders fall short on that It's important to bitch like hell!.
Unlike the republicans who won't even allow gay people to speak at their conventions and play follow their leader who is totally beholden to the right wing religious fanatics.
