Personally I think that Roger is the new and improved Pete. Sampras had serious problems with his backhand and physical conditioning.After he retired we learned that his conditioning problem was due to some hereditary heart condition I believe.He wanted to keep it a secret while he was still playing.One reason he always went to the net was because he couldnt beat people in the back.The courts and the balls have slowed down some these past few years which means that Roger has to fight it out from the baseline.I dont think that Sampras could have done that and have stayed #1 for 6 years like Roger has done.Also Pete had to play well at the end of the season to stay #1 where Roger has dominated so much that the Masters doesnt mean anything for his #1 ranking.And that might explain his lack of form.JMO
