With farmers struggling with the cost of putting maybe $40 worth of nitrogen per acre as fertilizer to increase yield.

The fertilizer prices have risen some for 2008. For our corn in Ohio we will put on about 14 gallons per acre or 10-34-0 when we plant and then sidedress about 30 gallons of 28% nitrogen later in the season. Together this will be about $80.00 worth of fertilizer. Wheat fertilizer costs less, and soybeans get no fertilizer.
