My daughter brought her computer home so I could try to determine why it keeps rebooting. She is running W98. I start the computer and it will shutdown/reboot before it can make it through scan disk. It repeats this cycle over and over but never completes the boot up. I blew all the dust out of the box and all the fans are running so I don't think that was the problem. The first time I boot it after I leave it shut down for an hour it will make it through scan disk and about 30 seconds more before shutdown. No error messages but since it shuts off just like you pulled the plug I wouldn't see it anyway.
Any ideas?
She needs a computer to take back to college with her so I will probably buy her a notebook. Any recommendations for the notebook? This Dell Inspirion 5100 looks good to me but I don't know much about notebooks.
