I've taken the concept that "OEMS don't get it" to mean that they are not focusing on creating an ongoing revenue stream. They are happy to add anything if it allows them to sell boxes profitally. As such I think that attitiude is neutral to the selling of applications. They won't impeded it or demand a piece of the action; on the other hand they will not initiate some strategic relationship to push the applications either. i've actually been told that extends to the PC and systems integration parts of IBM and HP as well. They don't cross sell nearly as much as one could think would be possible.
