Sometimes it's pretty hard to refute being called a liar. For example, if you were to call me a liar when I said I was long in XXXX stock, how do I refute that other than by sending you my brokerage statement? And there are other charges it's impossible to disprove. So that doesn't always work.

What works is everybody being and adult. Sadly, that seems to be a pipedream with some people.
