I do not have the news article in front of me, so you probably have to take my word for it.

This is unrelated to the IDCC case. I remember some years ago, one of the big european companies made a business deal with a US company, and one of the european company officiers in the know made a big option play in the US company for that deal, and gained a substantial amount of money. The SEC investigated, and got with that particular officier to a common understanding on what he was doing wrong. He was not charged, but his trades were undone, so nobody gained or lost anything ( except anexity!) because of his trades.
