btw if my broker or an mm is borrowing my shares without my knowledge can I still sell the shares that I supposedly have? The reason I ask is I had a stock last week that I had been in over a year with quite a few shares that I decided to just sell out on. I put in an order to sell them all at the BID, something I normally do not do. When I tried to submit the order ETRADE kicked it back saying "You do not have enough shares in your account to perform this order". So I double checked my position in the stock, double checked my typing and submitted it again. Same response. So I exited out of ETRADE came back in and tried again. Same response. SO I gave up. Didn't have time to call the premium help line and it wasn't that important that I get out of that stock that day.

Next day I log onto ETRADE and I had a shitload of cash in my account. Went and checked and guess what? THey dumped my shares at a slightly better price (the pps was rising the previous day) but 3 hours AFTER MY LAST TRY TO SELL!!!

I've been trading daily for many years and never seen that before.
