GlobalNet Honduras Launches Voice and Data Over DSL with Thomson's Cirpack Softswitches

Thomson's Network Intelligence Solutions continue growth in Latin America, providing support for new Hondurian ISP's Voice over DSL offer. Full triple play planned for 2007.

Paris and Buenos Aires, October 2, 2006 - Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE; TMS) today announced that GlobalNet, a new Honduran internet service provider, has chosen Thomson's Cirpack MultiNode-B voice switching platforms to support its nationwide VoIP over DSL service in Honduras. GlobalNet plans to use the same platforms to deliver full triple play service in the near future.

GlobalNet has acquired Thomson's Cirpack Class 4 and 5 SoftSwitches in order to provide a full range of voice features for both the residential and business markets. The project, to be implemented by Honduran integrators Consulte, will be launched in October of this year with the aim of 25,000 VoIP subscribers by the end of 2006.

The telecommunications market in Honduras was opened to competition in 2005 in order to address the country's penury of telephone access lines. Sergio Salgado, GlobalNet's CEO commented "Honduras is a country of 7.4 million inhabitants yet there are still only half a million wire lines in service and the waiting list is long. We can see there is great market potential, with the launch of our packaged Voice and Data over DSL offer, to meet the country's demand for both internet and voice services. We are confident that Thomson's Network Intelligence Solutions will grow with us to meet this demand."
