The company previously suspended trading in 2004 when the Department of Revenue and Customs (HMRC) withheld almost £1 million in VAT repayments.

Last year Tricell was given fresh hope when the European Court of Justice judged that the Government's approach to withholding VAT repayments was unlawful. It has never been confirmed whether Tricell received the disputed VAT repayments.
