I find it interesting that AMD and its fans are focusing thoughts and discussion on "tri-core" rumors, when in fact the subject of conversation should be the news that the Barcelona launch is a complete disaster.

I've gotten used to AMD fans melting away when the news is bad.... note the almost complete lack of posts on the Barcelona launch on the AMD thread.

However, there are always those who - no matter what the reality on the ground is - see AMD poised to rebound. Last year it was 65nm and dual-core ramping. This year it's Barcelona (just as soon as they solve a few niggling little problems). Next year Phenom and tri-core, then AMD will start ramping their 45nm promises as we roll into 2009. I have no doubt that AMD will have some successes in the next 2 years, but compared to where they were in 2005 and early 2006, they don't have anything to get them back to that level of success. They are in deep, long-term trouble, and it's difficult for me to understand why this isn't obvious to anyone who is paying attention.
