China has been accused of hacking into Germany's government networks, reports the Times.
The paper reports that China is believed to have hacked into the computers of Angela Merkel's chancellery and three other German ministries in an act of economic espionage.
News of the alleged hack comes as Merkel visits the country with senior business executives. The Chinese authorities have denied the claims, saying there is no hard evidence to substantiate them.
The German visit is already expected to raise the temperature in Beijing as product piracy in the country is expected to be raised by the German delegation.
German Special Branch is said to have discovered Chinese hacks into the chancellery, and the foreign, economics and research ministries.
