Membership in the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation is a recognition that CJSC NWOG is a State level (not just Saratov regional) established company representing Russian Federation. Evgeni Primakov is a former Soviet/Russian prime minister with the reputation of hawk, tough approach to the West, good relationship in the Middle East, especially the countries of former Soviet influence: Syria, Libya, Iraq (under Hussein), etc. For NWOG with it's ME plans this membership is a big deal - it will act directly as ambassador of Russian Federation, that represents Putin, Primakov, Defense Ministry and Russian Chamber of Commerce. There are only 68 companies - members of CCRF with Gazprom #1, Lukoil #2, and NWOG #68: http://www.tpprf.ru/ru/main/associations/komfed/ .
Maybe Malyshev's toughness towards Al Waseet is a sign that we don't need them anymore (just like NWOG is rumored to break with CreditLine when realized that it can use more efficient Government contacts).
