Makes me wonder too, Jeff. My hope is that now it will gain major network attention. I found it because Hank Plante on our local CBS Chanel 5 news did that story on it yesterday. I would assume that now CBS News (nationwide) will pick it up.
It's utterly stunning that Cheney, the architect of this disaster, and it's chief proponent, knew all along exactly what would happen. Or perhaps when he made that tape in 1994 he was just trying to escape criticism from some right-wingers for failing to go into Baghdad in the first Gulf War? He's such a liar that it's hard to know if he was being honest or disingenuous when he made that tape. But obviously he was well aware of the expert opinions of the time, because he stated perfectly the reasons why we should never take out Saddam and occupy Iraq.
Lots of experts warned about invading Iraq. We also found out earlier this year that the CIA had warned Bush before the invasion about what would happen if he invaded. And now we have Cheney himself laying out the perfect reasons not to invade. So why did they do it? We deserve to know. It's our government.
