INRA(.05)CoroWare CoroBot Gains Momentum Within Research and Development Community
Academic and Commercial Buyers Opt for Affordable and Flexible Mobile Robots
Aug 14, 2007 7:52:00 AM

REDMOND, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/14/07 -- CoroWare, an Innova Robotics & Automation company (OTCBB: INRA), today announced successful multiple sales of their mobile robot platform, CoroBot, since its May 2007 launch.

CoroBot, the first product line from CoroWare's Robotics and Automation group, is an affordable and flexible mobile robot for researchers, hobbyists and developers in the industrial and service robot segments. The unit is equipped with a 1.2 GHz PC-class CPU, on-board sensors and a color camera. A robotic arm capable of four degrees of freedom is also available.

One customer, Vassar College, is deploying several CoroBots for use in various lab activities, including the development of swarm robotics applications designed to leverage groups of robots to complete complex tasks.

"We're adopting CoroBots because of our success to date working with CoroWare using a variety of autonomous and teleoperated robotic systems," said Ken Livingston, Director of the Interdisciplinary Robotics Research Laboratory at Vassar College. "We believe CoroWare offers excellent software for system integration and communication at a competitive price. Additionally, CoroWare's responsiveness and product support has been excellent, allowing us to concentrate on our research questions."

According to Dr. Peter Harrop of electric vehicle analysts IDTechEx, "The mobile robotics marketplace is growing 25% annually, and mobile robot applications in particular are broadening considerably. We consider the CoroWare platform to be a timely and appropriate addition to the industry's repertoire."

CoroWare hopes to benefit from this growth by focusing on meeting the need for affordable and flexible mobile robot platforms within the academic and commercial mobile robotics research and development community. Based on customer feedback, CoroWare believes that the availability of pre-installed Microsoft Robotics Studio® services will be viewed as a major advantage for users.

"The robotics research and development community has stressed the need for a platform they can expand and modify to suit their needs," said Jon Mandrell, Director of CoroWare's Robotics and Automation group. "We believe the CoroBot line of products not only fills that need, but also answers the demand for Microsoft Robotics Studio® support, which we've built right in. Users are able to get a head start on their development projects because they don't have to start at ground zero to build a capable platform."

CoroBot is available in six different models depending on the desired operating system and options. CoroBot also comes with a 90 day limited warranty, one year email technical support, unlimited forum and knowledge base support and downloadable software updates.

CoroWare will be demonstrating CoroBot at the upcoming RoboDevelopment Conference and Expo on October 25-26, 2007 in San Jose, CA, where CoroWare will also be hosting a Robotics Breakfast Keynote session.
