Drumbah: The best place to shop for shoes is the bowling alley.

Just find a pair of bowling shoes lying about, then look in the cubbyholes behind the counter for a pair that was checked-in by a customer and that look about the right size and style, then hand in the old bowling shoes to the attendant and direct him/her to that cubbyhole with "your" shoes in it.

Try them on, if they fit - walk out. If they don't, check the cubbies again for another pair and tell the attendant you were mistaken, those other ones in the other cubby are yours. Continue until you find a pair that suits you, then leave.
