I won't argue, it's just that many, many contracts do in reality play out this way. Nobody really likes it, it just happens. Were they paid? yes. on time? no.

also if you pay a week late every time, then you are still hitting the period, just out of phase with the schedule.

There is more going on here than just missing payment dates.
