EXTON, Pa., Jan 14, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Placer County Water Agency has chosen WPCS (OTCBB:WPCS), through its Clayborn Contracting subsidiary, to deploy a complete wireless network for an advanced supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) application.
The $407,588 project award is comprehensive in scope and consists of furnishing and erecting a 120 ft. communications tower, structured cabling and the installation of wireless equipment at 12 sites. The application calls for the linking of remote water storage tanks, pressure reducing stations and water treatment plants through a wireless network to control levels and flow.
The agency encompasses the entire 1,500 square mile boundary of Placer County, ranging from the rim of the Sacramento Valley on the west to Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe on the east. The Placer County Water Agency www.pcwa.net carries out a broad range of responsibilities including water resource planning, management, irrigation water supply, drinking water and hydroelectric energy.
