I had a siutation one year where the IRS LOST my check. I then put a stop payment and then issued ANOTHER check 8-9 months after they figured they lost the first one. My bank then messed up and stopped payment on the SECOND check I issued instead of the first one! Had to get a letter from the bank, etc, etc... What a mess - and this took 2 1/2 years to straighten out. SO using your reasoning, I'm a deadbeat tax evader because all you see is that I was several years late on getting a tax bill paid due to situations that were not my fault and beyond my control. Clearly a wrong, narrow minded, agenda filled perspective IMO.
And mine was just a simple individual tax return, not involving possible old issues for which Dan possibly knew nothing of going into it or felt he wasn't responsible for.
My point is, we have no idea the circumstances surrounding what occurred, we might not ever know. Really IMMATERIAL at this point, because they are paid. People need to move on and get a life regarding this issue.
