OMG, it just gets funnier! Bush just met with the Pope. The pope presented Mr. Bush with an etching of St. Peter’s Square from the 17th century and a gold papal medallion. The president gave the pope a white walking stick, made by a former homeless man from Texas who had become an artist, that was covered with the Ten Commandments in multiple colors. When the Pope examined the writing on the stick, Bush said, "The Ten Commandments, sir" (The correct honorific for the Pope is "Your Holiness", not "sir".)

So Bush gets a 17th century etching and a gold medallion, and the Pope gets a painted stick.

Now, I just happened to notice something in the picture of the pope (below) holding the stick. If you look closely, next to the number "4" appears the word "Remember". Guess what. That's not the Catholic version of the Ten Commandments. Bush just gave the head of the Catholic Church the WRONG version. There are three versions of the Ten Commandments. Protestant, Catholic, and Hebrew. In the Catholic version, the 4th commandment is "Honor thy father and thy mother. Bush = Boob! Again!!

The Ten Commandments (Protestant, Catholic, and Hebrew)

I.Prot. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

I.Cath. I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me.

I.Heb. I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

II. Prot. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

II.Cath. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

II.Heb. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; Thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.

III Prot. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

IV Cath. Honor thy Father and thy Mother.

IV Heb. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath in honour of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt not do any work, neither thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
