surf went on to add that the NSM guy offered up that the IBM TPM (Atmel) was not the greatest. That supports what I have surmised, namely that NSM due to inclusion of Wave IP likely offers the most functional 1.1b TPM!

The Atmel chip is slow. That is the problem. Not that it doesn't function. From what I gather, their 1.2 chip will be the superI/O, but the 1.1b in the toshibas will be some second-version of the Safekeeper. I really didn't get into it since I was more interested in how to get some of the TPM chips, themselves.
