Hi sgolds, Re. 'Why the drop', here's one thought.

Although the Whittingdon article indicating Intel will be coming out with a P4-64 was generally positive for AMD, the typical analyst may consider it a negative. I.e. the average viewer will think AMD's lead may be short lived when Intel brings out the big guns, and an announcement by Intel will undoubtedly make it sound that way. They don't realise how long it will take Intel to enter the field, and think it will cause AMD to lose sales while the major buyers wait for Intel's "superior" product. May be some truth to that also.....

They may be selling in advance of that big announcement.

It would also mean that Dell may not have to swallow their pride and go AMD, so the possibility of a huge gain on such an announcement goes away.

Just some thoughts for discussion.
