Some interesting news......

My son-in-law works for a fortune 100 corporation and just received his new laptop. They are phasing out IBM Thinkpads and his new computer is a Dell. It came with a TPM, fingerprint scanner and the complete Wave package.

Now this is where it gets interesting. The fingerprint scanner software was removed by the corporate IT people. The TPM is disabled and they were told not to mess with it. The reason for the fingerprint software removal was stated that their servers were not yet compatible with the software. They would be getting back to them in the near future. Now they are still logging on with just a password.

I believe they are sending the laptops out as they receive them. They must be upgrading their servers to handle the TPM key management and when enough laptops are in use they will activate complete package.

A significant fact is this company only used IBM for years and they update laptops every 2 years.

This could be a major number of seats, but this company will never publicize their security setup. I wonder how many more companies fit this same pattern.

Just my comments.
