"You seem to be formatting an awful lot"

Hi Bruce,

Wow, this is a timely thread.
I've been wanting to re-format this computer for a while now and yesterday I saw your post about this new thread.

I re-formatted my Sony 5 times because one of my children were using it and "messed it up". After the re-formatting, it still has the same problem after installing certain software. So, I had to re-format until it "worked". The Sony works great, now that I re-formatted. I figured the HP would, too.

Is my situation common for all computers, or does this pertain only to HP?

I hate HP right now. They don't send recovery disc with their computers. They have "recovery system" on a hidden partition. The "recovery system" never gave me the opportunity to chose which hard d rive to re-format. I just can't believe it.

The recovery system is supposed to re-store the computer back to how it was when it was "brand new". I just don't understand why it would re-format the slave drive.

Bruce, I'm glad you started this thread because I have been planning to build a computer sometime in 2004 and I will have lots of questions.

Thanks again,
Scott

P.S. Sorry for the long winded post, and letting me vent some anger here.
