You don't have to worry about slander here since slander is oral. Libel is also a little difficult since everyone (almost) is using an anonymous alias.

As for the public format, read the TOS rules and that is all you are responsible for complying with.

Any time you post on the public forum you open your post to responses from any other poster as long as they also comply with the TOS rules.
