Surfsup,
Yup
I do all the time. I take the USB end of the cord from my external hard drive, plug it right into the front USB port on my desktop, and I can access it just like any mass storage device without ever having to keep that info on my main hard drive!
Do you know what an external hard drive is and how they work and all the various ways you can set them up? They are great, especially for mirroring an image of your entire hdd0 dribe so if you need to wipe out your system entirely you can have it back on with no loss of anything and your settings intact in a minute!

It appears that what the real objection I am hearing from some is that they really did not like me pointing out that if one does NOT have a bunch, or even some critical data to worry about on their drives, they really don't need an FDE hard drive. I didn't think the concept of if there is nothing there to steal, why do you need the security was so difficult to comprehend.

Like it or not, and I know we are all rooting for as many FDE's as possible to ship because of our various investments, the fact remains that not EVEYONE really needs one.
