Very good find, imho, the Oracle deal makes this a non-worry

infact im sure microsoft wanted GIPS to give them a "deal" on
the codec, small unestablished companies that give "deals" dont
last long imho. There was a clear comparison to quality
comparisons w/ cisco but imho the discussion of quality was a
bit vague and kind of gave the reader, possibly erroniously, the
impression that msft's product was better than GIPS, back in
my unenlightened days id give it up to microsoft by default but
today they have got alot to prove, many products have not lived
up to expecations.

oracle's recent anointing of GIPS says it all, i think that
the market thought that the highly anticipated deal was w/
microsoft (which is usually a good bet) but the recent
hiring of the Irish turn around expert for GIPS public
relations office in san francisco indicates that GIPS was
concentrating on a company in the bay area and not in Redmond WA

(gips hired John Gallagher)

i think what would have worried me about the article is if
microsoft would have picked spirit dsp, imho gips is the clear
winner of the two
