Guardian Technologies' PinPoint(TM) Threat-Detection Software Technology is Tested in Spanish Airport

HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Guardian Technologies International, Inc. (OTCBB:GDTI - News), a leading software technology developer of intelligent imaging informatics solutions, for the homeland security and healthcare industries, announced that its threat and explosives detection software technology for x-ray baggage systems, PinPoint(TM), was tested against live explosives in Madrid, Spain.

The operational concept test and demonstration took place at Madrid's Barajas International Airport at the end of January with civilian and government authorities in attendance. The concept testing confirmed PinPoint's(TM) capabilities for detection of military and commercial grade explosives with operational performance that would not alter normal airport security throughput. The Spanish authorities are also very interested in PinPoint's adaptability for the detection of several unique homemade and improvised explosive compounds that are surfacing throughout Europe. Integrated development plans are being finalized to address this new detection requirement with an image collection project being conducted in April at an undisclosed location in Spain.

Guardian is working with EGC Informatics and one of the world's largest security companies to address the aviation security markets in both Spain and Portugal. This will be used as the platform to introduce PinPoint(TM) capabilities throughout the remainder of Europe. Spain's growth in passenger traffic at their 47 airports is nearly 10% a year and may reach the 200 million passenger mark within a year. Portugal's passenger traffic growth percentage at their 12 airports is similar to Spain's and has precipitated the need for substantial airport expansion to meet the demand.

Initially designed for the concerns of aviation security, PinPoint(TM) will improve screener efficiency, reduce unnecessary traveler delays, and provide airport ownership with a return on their technology investment. Additionally, the software can be used for building security and train stations that are rapidly becoming a major security concern around the world.
