Sintana Energy advances Orange Basin portfolio with key exploration updates

Sintana Energy CEO Robert Bose recently spoke with Steve Darling from Proactive to provide a comprehensive update on the company’s Orange Basin assets, highlighting significant progress across PEL 83, PEL 90, PEL 87, and PEL 82. Bose sahred positive results from the Mopane 3-X well on PEL 83, operated by Galp. The well, which targeted new AVO anomalies 10 and 13, delivered better-than-expected results across nearly every parameter, confirming the presence of high-quality oil and condensate. This discovery has the potential to establish a new development hub, positioning PEL 83 as a key asset in the basin. Moving forward, activity will focus on evaluating partnership opportunities, with Galp expected to seek new partners in the coming quarters. The first Chevron-operated well on PEL 90 did not encounter commercial hydrocarbons but was still regarded as a technical success. Bose emphasized the company’s confidence in the exploration potential of the block, noting that the joint venture partners plan to return for further drilling later this year. Bose also provided an update on PEL 87’s Saturn Superfan prospect, where Woodside Energy chose not to proceed after completing a 3D seismic survey. Despite this, Sintana remains highly optimistic and is now in discussions with alternative supermajor partners. “We’re very excited about opening up the doors to larger, potential partners,” Bose stated, highlighting the continued confidence in the asset’s potential. Chevron has officially completed its farm-in at PEL 82, located in the Walvis Basin, paving the way for drilling operations next year. Bose also pointed to the growing political support for oil and gas development in Namibia, with upstream regulatory oversight now moved directly under the President’s office—a move he called “a huge step forward” for the industry. AuKing prepares for gold mining at Mt Freda site

AuKing Mining Ltd managing director Paul Williams talked with Proactive about the company's latest update on its Cloncurry Project in Queensland, focusing on the Mt Freda deposit. Williams confirmed that with Orion Resources nearing acquisition completion, AuKing is preparing to restart mining operations at the historical Mt Freda gold mine. Williams highlighted Mt Freda as a top target for redevelopment due to its existing mining lease and approvals, as well as a current resource estimate of around 100,000oz. "We really don't want to start a mining operation unless we've got reserves in the resource estimate," he explained, outlining the company’s aim to confirm and expand those figures through an upcoming drilling program. In addition to resource verification, AuKing is evaluating two processing options: existing vat leaching pits and a nearby cavern in-leach circuit at Lorena. Williams also noted the broader potential in the surrounding six square kilometre Mt Freda Complex, which contains multiple historical deposits, hinting at further exploration upside. Drilling is expected to start within weeks of the acquisition's financial close in April, with results anticipated in the months following. Atrato Partners on Social Housing REIT (SOHO): strategy, debt and dividend outlook

Atrato Partners, the newly appointed Investment Manager of Social Housing REIT (SOHO) talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the current state of the specialised supported housing sector and how the company is tackling key challenges within its portfolio. Fund manager Adrian D'Enrico was joined by Michael Carey and Natalie Markham, offering a comprehensive update on SOHO’s operational and financial performance. D'Enrico addressed common misconceptions about the sector, clarifying that it is not temporary or homeless accommodation, but instead provides long-term homes for adults with care needs. “A misconception as well is that specialised supported housing is a passive investment based on the long lease,” he explained, underlining the importance of resident occupancy and the operational real estate nature of the assets. Carey detailed the steps taken to resolve issues with Parasol and My Space Housing Solutions, including lease transfers to stronger providers, which are expected to improve rent collection. “We’ve collected 72% of the contracted amount so far with Westmoreland, and we’re confident we’ll meet our target,” he said. Cuscal FY25 update: profit grows on stable volumes

Cuscal Limited Managing Director Craig Kennedy talked with Proactive at AIM's Small and MIdcap conference about the company’s role in Australia's financial infrastructure and its recent financial performance for the first half of FY25. Kennedy explained that Cuscal is one of only five organisations in Australia with the full suite of licensing, infrastructure, and capabilities required to offer end-to-end payment services—alongside the four major banks. The company serves a range of clients including other banks, corporates, and fintechs, as well as working with NAB’s UBank division. Kennedy emphasised Cuscal’s position as a “neutral, independent” access point to payment infrastructure. On financial performance, Kennedy said Cuscal expects to “modestly exceed the forecast in the prospectus” issued at the time of its IPO in November. He noted that the business enjoys stable, predictable revenue and has completed significant investment in areas like real-time payments and operational upgrades. As a result, the company is beginning to see operational leverage. Kennedy stated: “Mid to high single digit volume growth will translate to low double digit profit growth.” He said H1 FY25 results showed 7% volume growth and between 12% to 13% profit growth. Reflecting on sector innovation, Kennedy described Cuscal as an "airport" enabling new players—like fintechs—to create and deliver new customer experiences on top of a stable infrastructure.
