I believe Des is really trying to merge this thing ASAP, he's as tired as we are to come with excuses and reasons why the merger don't go through. He also stated in a PR that next time they were to talk about a merger it was going to be done, as we can see it isn't, but my guess is that he can't just come up with "we are now merged", he needs to say it before. I don't think he'd come up with anything if he wasn't convinced he was going to merge it this time!!!
