I got involved with a low level spook in the early '70s - learned more than I wanted to know about how the government worked. When he tried to quit they gave him a psych drug at the VA that was supposed to be titrated. It would have killed him if hadn't insisted that I ride in the ambulance and that the ambulance took him to the V.A. where the drug came from. Fortunately we got an ethical doctor that saved his life. I realized later that it wasn't an "error".
It took me 10 years to get a 4 year degree, I was in no hurry. I intended to go into psychiatric social work but the internship told me not to. First was in a halfway house for women getting out of prison. I wasn't allowed to talk about Spiritual concepts, and I believe they needed it. Second was at the V.A. and I still remember slobbering and drooling Betty who couldn't get out of her wheelchair because she was so heavily drugged.
