The availability of drugs I suspect was highly dependent on your geographic location. As well as what the drugs of preference were. Funny but living in NYC and going to NYU I experienced no shortage throughout the 70s and 80s.

After college I can clearly remember the smell of pot while walking around Wall Street at lunch hour.
