So the shorts/mm’s etc. are trying to figure out how to “find” shares.

I believe MM's are forced to close out their short or long positions before the close on Fridays, by rule. That may have changed, as I haven't been following the rules.

If hedging is in play, then I am not sure something like the EMA's MAA acceptance would trigger covering. Approval on any level of A273, would definitely trigger covering. So the shares short would have longevity.

For those that aren't hedging, they would indeed be looking for shares. The rebalance didn't generate the expected volume, so their efforts to cover have been frustrated. How much time do they have before MAA submission/acceptance?
